When Thomas Carter discovers his grandfathers hidden journals, detailing the old mans fight against the supernatural, he knows hes found his true calling at last. Yet when he sets out to stake a local vampire, he quickly learns that the difference between Good and Evil is very different from what he had believed.  Julian Schaden is at first amused when Thomas tries to destroy him, but he quickly recognizes Thomas for what he is: a Demon Hunter, a supernatural being who exists to hunt and destroy the soulless. The two are drawn together as Julian teaches Thomas the skills he will need to survive, and attraction intensifies to something deeper. But when a major demonic manifestation looms at Halloween, will they have the strength to face it, when failure might condemn them both to an eternity in Hell?

I really enjoyed this book. It seemed refreshing and engaging to me. Sure, there were some plot holes but even those didn’t subtract from the story. Maybe I’m just a sucker for paranormal romances. I liked that this time the vampire hunter was one of the main characters and he wasnt jaded at all. Okay, granted just how innocent Thomas was, was a bit difficult to swallow at times but hey, it can happen! It’s a vampire-demon story! ¬†Thomas is an interesting demon hunter, a nice change from the indoctrinated was hunters of supernatural are usually portrayed. No angst in this story. Kudos for not being an instant love/lust story, that made it easier to believe in my book. Not that I’m not a big fan of the instant love/mate thing but it just worked better this way in The Demons Door. Thomas is a sweet guy with a lot of potential to grow as for Julian… Julian is hot, mature and wise. Funny as hell too! I like the careful way he let the relationship between him and Thomas evolve and the chemistry was amazing! They worked as a couple and didn’t fall into the clich√© student-teached relationship, they felt like equals more or less.

As for the lacking parts.. I did mention some plot holes. One being the contradictory way Thomas seemed to be built. A well-read demon hunter that didn’t know what being gay meant? Yeah. A bit hard to swallow. I absolutely hated the shortness of this book! There was a lot going on during so few pages! I feel that if the story would have been extended and the scenes more thought, this would have been an amazing book! As it is, it’s a good book that could use a bit of work. I really liked it regardless.

Overall Impression:

3.5* – ¬†I liked it I would give it 4 stars but that would be my subjective vote, as I’m a big lover of supernatural romances! As it is, sadly I rate it at 3,5 stars. Warmly recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romances or just if you’re looking for an easy, short read!
