Border13 Blurb: Two childhood playmates grow into more than just friends in #1 New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux’s full-length romantic novel based on her short story of the same name. In the hugely popular, New York Times bestseller A Holiday of Love, Jude Deveraux wrote a novella about two kids playing matchmakers—Eli and Chelsea, best friends who were determined to find true love for Eli’s bighearted mother. But what happens when these ambitious children grow up? What exactly made Eli’s mother, Miranda, fall in love with Frank all those years ago? And how does that affect their future together? Eli and Chelsea lost touch with each other over the years, until Eli bought a house in his father’s hometown of Edilean, Virginia, and invited Chelsea for a visit. She had her own life, and was certain that a childhood friendship couldn’t be anything more, but she went nonetheless—and found herself quite unprepared for the changes she saw in Eli. And neither of them were prepared to run into a mystery, with a family that needed to be rescued. Now, just like when they were children, they must join together to straighten out a very big problem. The question is what happens after the mystery is solved; they are very different people—so can they stay together? Combining love and passion with sweet, unexpected twists, and shedding new light on Miranda and Frank’relationship, Change of Heart is an unforgettable addition to Deveraux’s classic bestselling novels.

Review: You may remember these characters if you are a faithful Devereux reader from the Montgomery /Taggerts series. Eli being a Taggerts cousin played a small role in some of those books. Both Eli and Chelsea were young teenagers in the original stories, “A Holiday of Love”, Jude Deveraux wrote a novella about two kids playing matchmakers—Eli and Chelsea, best friends who were determined to find true love for Eli’s big hearted mother. But what happens when these ambitious children grow up? What exactly made Eli’s mother, Miranda, fall in love with Frank all those years ago? And how does that affect their future together? The original short story is included in its entirety as the first part of this novel, which is followed by Eli and Chelsea all grown up. Their love though never wained even though they drifted apart just as their promises stated. New and old readers get to learn about the romantic love story of a couple who were once good friends but drifted apart as they grew older. Though totally different in personality, these two individuals managed to have a close friendship. Now the once total geek wants to see if there could possibly be something more than friendly companionship between him and the gorgeous woman whom he has never forgotten. Combining love and passion with sweet, unexpected twists, and shedding new light on Miranda and Frank’s relationship, Change of Heart is an unforgettable addition to Deveraux’s classic bestselling novels. This novel gives us a chance to revisit the Taggert family and meet a great new cast of characters. “Change of Heart” was an interesting contemporary romance in which we meet several couples over the span of twenty years who laugh, fight, fall in love, and finally find their happy ending.

Overall Impression: 3.5* – I liked it – Don’t get mad at the rating, I gave it that because I was a little disappointed regarding the length. Deveraux was extremely smart when she wrote this book by breaking it up into two parts; giving us the background story, the bringing us up to present date. I have been a huge Deveraux’s fan since I was about 15, I seriously think I own almost every book she published, so to me the little frustration doesn’t change my opinion in the slightest. Jude has a way with words that suck you in to her story and take you away as if you are watching a movie instead of reading. She in my opinion can continue to keep her claim to one of the best romance authors of our time.
